Lyca Kovai Kings Hat-trick Win Take Them to Top Spot

Lyca Kovai Kings continued their winning momentum by securing their third victory in a row with a 59-run win over Dindigul Dragons in their TNPL encounter at Salem. Batting first, Kovai posted a mammoth total of 206/5 thanks to an outstanding 83-run inning from Sai Sudharsan consisting of 8 boundaries and 4 maximums scored at a very quick pace. Kovai openers Sujay and Suresh Kumar provided a rapid start accumulating 49 runs within the first 5 overs. After their dismissals, Sai Sudharsan and U Mukilesh added valuable runs through a quick 85-run partnership. Sudharsan then accelerated scoring 54 runs in the final few overs along with captain Shahrukh Khan to take the team total to 206/5.

Dindigul’s chase got off to a disastrous start losing 4 wickets for just 25 runs within the first 5 overs. They never recovered despite a valiant 50-run contribution from their opener. Kovai bowler Gowtham Thamarai Kannan’s economical spell of 3/18 from his 3.1 overs, including 14 dot balls at an economy of 5.68, set the tone early on. Manimaran Siddharth (2/26) and skipper Shahrukh Khan (2/18) also chipped in with crucial wickets as Dindigul was bowled out for 147 runs.

The victory saw Kovai Kings move to the top of the table while Dindigul Dragons suffered their first defeat but remain in third place. Sai Sudharsan was named the Player of the Match for his match-winning innings.
